THE SWIM

Make no reproach
as you there approach
for I am rather here
than anywhere

If any tine you join me here
Then this verse gives appreciation
Of much enjoyment by this addition

If I am lately gone from here
And you for comfort wander there
Or any of our favourite places
Then these few lines take through their paces
And for each good time or day
Let each moment happy wipe the tear away

Assuaged

And so grief is staged

  • Despair depression had and have their day
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Church service
  • Help
  • Yet nothing does

Denying and in my present dream
Soft kiss
So loving
So giving
Sometimes is all that keeps me going

No anger for me rather at when this kiss cannot prevent “I’ve had enough of this”

Here stomach tightening
loss of guilt
much more frightening

Only past bargains met by her so well
As so will I always tell

Aacceptance only just accepted
Total no longer claiming
Just in part remaining
On apt occasion wrenches back
To past joy of my persuasion
And having paid my due
Recalling love, humour, joy, déjà vu

The Thumb

  • THE THUMB
  • This poem was prompted by a program by the BBC, during which the BNP candidate was ambushed. It was followed a few days later by a news item in which an Asian man was seen to raise a thumb in a gesture of sympathy if not support. I have used the three cases of alliteration displaced, indicative and severed to distraction. In my dreams I imagine getting the number of words per line to allow the orator to go at walk trot canter and charge pace. This will have to be completed in future edits. If I get Betjeman to edit and Richard Burton to orate I could be on to a winner
  • Any way on with the Brown Thumb!
  • THE BROWN THUMB
  • BEEB to the left;
  • In usual stance
  • BNP the right
  • Kangerood,
  • Without a chance
  • From the heights they volleyed and thundered
  • Into the valley rode……………………………”
  • The brown thumb!!!!
  • Raised in sympathetic gesture
  • Bravely follows freedom’s culture
  • Others join this new brigade
  • Defining freedom to our aid
  • There’s a platoon of colonel blimps
  • If beneath the white skin you’d care to glimpse
  • The 19th hole has episodes chopped
  • Carruthers and Irish are friendly swopped
  • Garnet with media still free spoken
  • Such bonds never broken
  • Laughing with and at
  • Both white and black attack
  • Cause the enemy remorse and severe attrition
  • The BEEB by self-examination
  • The BNP long term education
  • Surely now bars to freedom are defeated
  • But sadly as they top the rise
  • Despair can then show no disguise
  • For there the enemy that ne’er relent
  • Wig, Gown and Good Intent

His Pink Satchel

The concerned mother calls from outside the bus.
No!!
Not one of them
Just one of us.

When formulating this Poem a certain amount of Qoop was brought into play in that originally I had the woman as the driver of the bus turning to shout at the children.
